CareMakers Collective™

Stitch. Care. Rise.

Mission: CareMakers Collective™ equips refugee and immigrant women with pathways to economic independence, belonging, and leadership — through textile craft and caregiving careers.

Vision: A future where refugee and immigrant women rise as makers, caregivers, and leaders—turning reclaimed materials into products that care for people and the planet, while building dignified careers rooted in compassion, skill, and pride.

Our Dual Pathway

Two Powerful Skills. One Transformative Mission.

By formally merging two historically undervalued forms of labor — sewing production and trained caregiving — we provide the tangible instruments needed for upward economic mobility.

Sewing for Local Production

Training women in the industrial sewing and production skills the local Seattle market actually hires for — quality control, batch production, finishing, and packaging — so they can step into paid work at local manufacturers, designers, and small-batch brands.

A woman can choose to begin with sewing (low-barrier income entry) or caregiving — and build from there. She can also pursue both pathways to maximize her income.

Our lane

A bridge before formal caregiving employment

We fill the readiness gap so women can step confidently into the programs and pathways that already exist.

What we do

  • Trusted, community-based training
  • Peer support and workplace English
  • Production income while women build skills
  • Employer and referral readiness

Preservation & Healing

Caremakers preserve what matters-protecting culture and heritage, rescuing materials from landfills, and offering a career in compassionate care to those who need it most.

The Circular Revolution

Turning Waste into Wealth

The current global cycle of "take, make, use, and dispose" is ecologically unsustainable. The CareMakers Collective™ actively participates in the circular economy

By diverting massive volumes of textile waste from local landfills, our artisans turn them into durable, high-quality, zero-waste products.
